The Federal Government of Nigeria and the government of Ghana have expressed worries on the growing incidence of drug-related crimes, being perpetrated across the West African borderlines.
They are particularly worried that the phenomenon is assuming a frightening dimension, because of the high level of coordination of the drug-related crimes within the region, especially between Nigeria and Ghana.
In a move to curtail this, the drug enforcement agencies of both countries have agreed to merge forces, share experience and intelligence.
Rising from a strategic meeting in Abuja, key officials of the drug control agencies of the two countries said they would be leveraging on the European Union programme: ‘’Response to Drugs and Related Organised Crimes in Nigeria’’ to make the war against drug trafficking a success.
