All indications suggest that talented midfielder Zac Shuaib will not be offered a new contract by Premier League giants Arsenal and on the verge of joining Brighton.
Shuaib, 17, is eligible to sign a professional contract and has entered the last four months of his scholarship deal with the Gunners.
Born in London, he is eligible to represent his country of birth England, Nigeria through his father, as well as Spain and India through his mother.
Shuaib featured as a trialist for Brighton & Hove in an U18 Premier League match against Southampton at the weekend, playing the last 28 minutes of a 5-1 loss.
With Arsenal allowing him to train with the Seagulls, it is all but confirmed that he has been deemed surplus to requirements for the 2025-2026 season.
Shuaib has not played much for Arsenal this term due to fitness issues, making just five appearances in the U18 Premier League, including one start, and was in action for 96 minutes.
He trained with Arsenal’s first team before their Premier League meeting with Brentford a year ago, but was not included in the gameday squad.
Shuaib began his football journey with Chiswick Youth at age seven, had stints at Hanwell FC and Focus Football, played for London Colney Colts and Tottenham Hotspur, before eventually joining Arsenal’s Hale End Academy in March 2022.
