The Nigeria Football Federation has not officially be informed about Under-23 coach, Samson Siasia’s resignation, according to the federation Vice President, Seyi Akinwunmi.
“We are yet to get his letter of resignation. He has not made it official,” he said.
Information had it that the coach, who won a bronze medal with his wards at the just-concluded Rio Olympic Games, had resigned.
He was quoted to have said that he was quitting the game in Nigeria because of what he described as ‘a disrespectful system’.
He is the most decorated African football coach at the Olympics having also won a silver medal in Beijing in 2008. He was said to have gone unpaid for five months by his employers, NFF.
Siasia said he was quitting football in Nigeria after “a turbulent and incredible campaign in Brazil.”
