The National Emergency Management Agency is developing a Strategic Plan for 2025–2029 to align its operations with emerging challenges and global best practices.
A validation workshop for the draft plan was held on Thursday in Abuja, with active participation from disaster management stakeholders.
In her remarks, the Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, described the initiative as a significant milestone that will establish a clear roadmap to enhance the agency’s operations, partnerships, coordination, and disaster risk management efforts in Nigeria.
She noted that the plan will also guide NEMA’s response to critical national challenges, including climate-related disasters, insecurity, displacement, and public health emergencies.
The Director of Human Resources Management, Umesi Emenike, presented the key elements of the plan, with full participation from NEMA directors and stakeholder representatives.
