The National Board for Technical Education has accredited 66 programmes run by the Lagos State Polytechnic.

A statement by the polytechnic’s Deputy Registrar of Information/Public Relations Officer of the Polytechnic, Mr. Olarenwaju Kuye, disclosed that the 66 programmes, which were five years due for accreditation, were formally accredited by the board.

Kuye further explained that the programmes accredited cut across the seven schools of the polytechnic, including the School of Management and Business Studies, School of Pure and Applied Sciences, School of Technology, School of Literal and Communication Studies, School of Engineering, School of Agriculture and the School of Environmental Studies.

“Each programme is under a school and all the schools were accredited, which made the combination of the 66 accredited courses,” Kuye said.

He also said that the NBTE inspected some of the institution’s centers.

“There is institutional accreditation and programmes accreditation. The institutional accreditation is when the board checks the different centres, for example, the offices, library, Centre for Entrepreneurship, sport facilities, hostels and all other physical programmes,” Kuye said.

Commenting on the development, the Rector, Mr. Samuel Oluyinka Sogunro, commended the board for their support in making the school one of the best in the country.

He further assured the world of better productivity.

Sogunro said, “We deeply express appreciation to the entire National Board for Technical Education Team for the support given to our institution since the inception of NBTE”

“Today, the polytechnic presents 66 programmes for accreditation and it is our hope that with our high calibre personnel and first class facilities, ranking as the best state polytechnic and fifth among all the polytechnics in Nigeria, you will be re-assured of our commitment towards offering world class training in Nigeria.”

The rector also declared the school’s commitment to the NBTE vision.

“Let me convey our commitment towards supporting the vision of NBTE in accomplishing her desired goals in line with the mandate that established the organization,” he said.

The NBTE Team leaders, Mr. G.M Nalado (first batch) and Dr. Ibrahim Rufai (2nd batch) applauded the management for the hospitality enjoyed by all resource persons.
