Nasarawa State Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, which saw the emergence of Governor Umaru Tanko Al Makura as senator to represent Nasarawa South Senatorial district and Abubakar Sarki Dahiru as member to represent Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency in the just concluded presidential and National Assembly election .
The state chairman of the party, Mr Francis Orogu, gave the hints in Lafia during a press conference at the party’s secretariat on Wednesday.
Orogu said the ruling All Progressives Congress robbed the people of their mandate through various means of rigging, which included abnormal cancellation of their legitimate votes.
“We will challenge them in the court legally,” he vowed.
The PDP chairman further alleged that ballots in over 120 polling units were canceled by INEC in the zone which affected the chances of his party in the election.
“They cancelled over one hundred and twenty units in the senatorial district which affected us directly, ” he said, stressing that they would not allow such development to repeat itself in the next coming election. “We are now strategising to ensure our victory in the next election.”
Orogu told his party’s supporters not to be distracted by the outcome of the last election.
However, speaking in an interview with The Point in Lafia over PDP’s allegation, APC state secretary in Nasarawa State, Hon. Aliyu Bello, dismissed the claim, saying their allegation was false and had no basis.
Bello said the election was free and fair and wondered why the PDP would come out with such allegation .He however called on APC supporters across the state to come out en mass to vote in the next election.
