All The 13 Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State have got N2.3 billion from the Federation Account for the payment of workers’ salaries for July, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Haruna Osegba, has said.

Osegba said this in Lafia while briefing newsmen at the end of the Local Government Joint Accounts Committee meeting in the state capital.

He, however, explained that after all the statutory deductions, only N1. 3 billion was released to the local government councils for the payment of July salaries.

The commissioner added that the deductions included salaries for political office holders, traditional rulers, training funds and dues for unions, among others.

He gave a breakdown of the dues to include; the National Union of Local Government Employees and N17 million for Medical and Health Workers Union, among others.

The commissioner said that after the deductions, council workers would get between 75 and 95 per cent as July salary, depending on the wage bill of each LGA.

“Based on this amount, the least any council worker would receive as July salary is 75 per cent while the maximum is 95 percent,” he said, appealing to council workers to be patient with the government, as efforts were being made to ensure that they received their full salaries as soon as possible.
