Disturbed by the alarming increase of youth restiveness and unemployment in Nasarawa State, in recent times an aspirant seeking for the gubernatorial seat on the platform of Action Democracy Party, Barrister Umaru Suleiman Ajaja, has vowed to create employment opportunities through the abundant mineral resources and agricultural potentials that are available across the state.
Ajaja, who was speaking in an interview with The Point in Lafia, accused past leaders in the state of not taking adequate measures at ensuring that the youths who are the backbones of every nation or society achieve their dreams through government’s intervention in all ramifications.
He said, “I will make sure that youths and women development become my first priority through effective and efficient leadership in the state, if given the mandate by the people of Nasarawa State, come 2019.”
The aspirant who is a former Comptroller in the Nigeria Customs Service reiterated that his administration, if voted into power, would operate an open-door policy that would carry all and sundry along, in the scheme of things.
He said his government would purchase tools for mechanised farming.
Ajaja promised to ensure total harmonisation in the health sector, just as he said pregnant women in the state would be treated freely in all the government hospitals across the state.
“My government would declare a state of emergency in the health sector and I will also ensure the full empowerment of women folks through the provision of soft loans for their total wellbeing,” he promised.
Ajaja urged the youths and women to ensure that they obtain their voter’s cards, as this would guarantee atheir right to vote for candidates of their choice in the coming elections.
The former Customs boss re-affirmed his readiness to consolidate on Governor Tanko Al-Makura ‘s achievements in the state, urging the electorate in the state to vote wisely, just as he said “2019 will be better forever.”
Asked on his strength to pull crowd in the 2019 race, the aspirant traced history, saying that he had contributed immensely towards the development of Nasarawa State, and that he was sure the people would reciprocate the gesture by accepting him.
“I, for instance, contributed the site for the building of Government House, the site for the building of Lafia Youth Centre and the site where the Peoples Democratic Party’s state secretariat was built, among other contributions,” he said.
He assured that if elected, his administration would ensure the restoration of peace, unity and harmonious co-existence among different ethnics groups living in the state, for the socio-economic development of the people..
The aspirant also promised to ensure stability in the state civil service and promised not to delay salary or pay in bits but fully.
