Sisters who were abducted alongside their father in Abuja on December 26 2023, have now been freed.

Early on Sunday,, a video showing the girls celebrating their release was circulated on social media.

A source familiar with the matter also confirmed the news to journalists early Sunday morning.

The ordeal began when the bandits abducted Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar and his six children from their home in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja.

During the abduction, the kidnappers shot dead Alhaji Mansoor’s brother, Abdulfatai, who had earlier alerted the police.

It was gathered that the gunmen later released their father, asking him to go get N60m as ransom for the release of her daughters before Friday, January 12.

Recall that one of the sisters, identified as Nabeeha, had then been reportedly killed by the gunmen.

The 400-level biological science student at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was murdered on Friday, leaving her siblings Najeebah (500 level, Quantity Surveying), Nadheerah (300 level, Zoology), and three others in the clutches of the kidnappers.

News of Nabeeha’s murder has sparked outrage among Nigerians.

In a bid to raise money, Nigerians were urged to donate whatever they have into a bank account, but not enough money was gathered as of Friday.
