The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has rejected a request by a former chief judge of Enugu State, Innocent Umezulike, to travel out of the country for medical treatment.

Umezulike had been invited by the EFCC after about N632.2 million was allegedly found in his bank account.

He was supposed to have submitted himself for questioning at the Port Harcourt office of the EFCC last Tuesday, but failed to show up.

EFCC detectives had traced over N600 million to Umezulike’s account a few weeks ago. Some of the money allegedly came from lawyers and politicians. The said account was allegedly operated without a Bank Verification Number.
