A female graduate of Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Lucy Chinagorom Eze has been allegedly raped and murdered inside her room by yet to be identified men.
Lucy was attacked in her house located around Airport View area, Asaba, capital of Delta State by some unknown persons who reportedly broke into her room through the ceiling.
After her graduation last year, she was said to have moved to Asaba where she lived and worked till her gruesome murder.
It was gathered that the deceased lived in a developing environment of which there were not many buildings and neighbours.
She was said to have been killed by her attackers after struggling with them as strands of her hair and blood littered her room.
According to her friend identified as Amarachi Cynthia Ibezim, “They made it through the ceiling, raped and murdered her in cold blood and made away with her properties.”
The Point learned that her colleagues at work had noticed that Lucy did not come for work before deciding to check on her at home.
Upon getting to her house, it was discovered that the door to her room was locked from inside. Her office mates were said to have peeped through her window and found Lucy’s lifeless and decomposing body on the floor in the pool of her blood.
The sad development was said to have been reported to the police before her remains were evacuated.
A non-governmental organisation that is following up with the alleged murder, Behind Bars International, explained that family, friends and colleagues of Lucy had started searching for her from January 5, 2025 before her corpse was discovered on January 10, 2025.
The Executive Director of BBI, Harrison Gwamnishu, said police preliminary investigation revealed that she was naked and that she might have struggled with her killers before her eventual murder.
“The place she worked started looking for her (Lucy) from January 5, 2025. No one knew her whereabouts. They called her number; her number was not going through. So, they called someone to go to her house and check to know why she had not been coming to work and when the person got there, it was said that the door was locked when they got there and when they checked through the windows, they saw her lifeless body, naked on the floor. Blood was all over the place. They went to the police station to make a report.
“On investigation, it was discovered that there were marks on her body, somebody used a knife to cut her finger and her hairs were on the floor meaning that she might have struggled with the person who killed her. She was murdered in her house and nobody knows who killed her.
“I hope the Delta State Police Command headed by CP Olufemi Abaniwonda would order for a thorough investigation with the aim of unraveling her killers. This is very sad,” he said.
