53-year-old man, Towoju Bernard, has approached an Igando customary court in Lagos to dissolve his marriage of 25 years to his wife, Bose Towoju.

Towoju told the court that  his decision arose from his wife’s stubborn attittude. He said his wife had already chased him out of the house he built some 10 years ago.

He also explained to the court that he and his wife were known for regular fights in a police station in their area.

Towoju said, “I cannot continue to make love with a woman who always curses me. Abosede is stubborn, wayward and troublesome. She once came to my office to fight me and tore my clothes in the presence of my colleagues. We fight on a daily basis and hurt each other a lot.

“We always land in police station after our fight; in fact, we are regular customers at the station.”

Bernard also alleged that his wife always threatened his life.

He said, “My wife always hits me with dangerous weapons, whenever we are fighting. I had to run away from the house I built with my money 10 years ago to rent an apartment for
safety.

“She chased me with cutlass, bottles and sticks; our neighbours can testify to that. I am afraid, I cannot sleep under the same roof with her with my two eyes
closed.”

He however, begged the court to dissolve their marriage for peace to reign in his life.

But while defending herself, Bose accused her husband of tagging her a witch in the family.

She said, “He said everywhere he went for a solution to his problems, they always told him that I was behind his predicament. My hands are clean, I know nothing about his woes.

“Bernard abandoned me and the children 10 years ago; I have been taking care of the children.”

She pleaded the court not to dissolve the marriage, claiming she still loved her husband.

The President of the court, Adegboyega Omilola, after hearing from both parties, adjourned the case for later hearing.
