A former Minister of Information and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the 2015 general elections in Nasarawa State, Mr. Labaran Maku, has said that he has not defected to the major opposition party in the state.
Maku, who is also APGA National Secretary, said claims by some people in the PDP in Nasarawa State that he was now back in the PDP should be discountenanced.
He said this while speaking with our correspondent in Lafia, the state capital, on the erection of billboards carrying his picture, name and the PDP logo in front of the state secretariat of the major opposition party.

All my supporters in APGA, PDP, APC should eschew violence

Maku stressed that he would remain a member of APGA, in spite of the membership of some of his supporters in the ruling All Progressives Congress and the PDP.
The former minister told our correspondent on the phone, “I am in APGA and I know I have supporters in PDP, APC. But I am not aware of my billboard being mounted in front of PDP secretariat, neither did I ask anybody to do that.
“I want all my supporters whether in APGA, PDP, APC and other parties to stop any act capable of creating violence in the state. What we are out to install in Nasarawa State, if by the grace of God we win the 2019 governorship election, is peace and brotherhood as enshrined in our party’s motto.”
The former information minister, therefore, advised all the political parties and aspirants in the state to put Nasarawa and the people first.
He also charged his supporters to unite in spite of party differences, appealing to the people in the state to eschew any form of ethnic and religious bigotry by electing a credible candidate that would move the state to an enviable height in the 2019 elections.
