A 47-year-old man, Morufu Omidiji, has filed a divorce suit against his wife, Iyabo Omidiji, at an Ake Customary Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, for allegedly being impregnated by his intimate friend.
Omidiji, who accused his wife of infidelity, said that Iyabo had earlier been impregnated by a man, but she had a stillbirth delivered through Caeserian section before she later had his two children.
The husband told the court that his wife had become promiscuous to the extent that she was impregnated by his closest friend, adding that he did not know how she aborted the pregnancy.
In her defence, Iyabo, a pharmacy shop owner, told the court that she was never impregnated by her husband’s friend and that all his testimonies against her were mere lies.
She said that Omidiji had no concrete evidence regarding his decision to divorce her, accusing him of not taking care of her and the children.
Iyabo added that her husband had sent her and their children packing from his house without bothering about their safety as they had since been passing the night inside her ‘chemist’ shop.
The President of the court, Chief Akande O.O, told the estranged wife to put an end to her promiscuous lifestyle and asked her husband to be responsible for the upkeep of the children.
He, therefore, adjourned the case to May 22 for further hearing.
