The Labour Party in Ogun State has accused the immediate past governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, of allegedly planting the seed of illegality in the opposition party at the national level.

The LP in Ogun also said that it backed the recent sack of the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, over alleged corruption.

LP Chairman in the state, Abayomi Arabambi, alleged that Mimiko bankrolled the election of the former national chairman and other executive members of the party with a view to hijacking the platform later for selfish purpose.

The so called national chairman is holding the position illegally

Arabambi stated that Mimiko was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party who had another leg of his in the LP and did everything to retain control of the party structures at the national level.

The Ogun LP chairman maintained that the condition that produced Abdulsalam as the party’s national chairman was unconstitutional because it was against the order of a Lagos Federal High Court.

The LP boss blamed Mimiko for allegedly planting illegality in the party a n d accused him of sponsoring some members of NEC by hosting them at a convention held in Akure, the Ondo State capital, while some members of the party were not invited for the same event.

He said, “His removal has a political undertone. The so called national chairman is holding the position illegally because the condition that produced him was against the court of a Federal High court in Lagos, which we instituted against the then former national chairman.

“The purported people that served were sponsored by PDP. Governor Mimiko was the one who sponsored them till today so that they can hijack the party.

Who are the NEC that served other than the NEC of Governor Mimiko?

The immediate past governor of Ondo State is still a member of PDP, even after leaving the LP.

So, before they removed him (Abdulsalam) he was even occupying the position illegally.

The people who removed him are also illegal. It was Mimiko who planted Abdulsalam there during the contest in 2014.

Some states like Ogun and Oyo were not involved.” Arabambi disclosed that the LP in the state was already making moves in court to end the embattled former LP national chairman’s stay in office, stressing that it was also planning to have him sacked so that he could return to his former position of national secretary.

“We were going to challenge his continuous stay in court. It was Mimiko who sponsored some excos there, where they attended an illegal convention hosted in Akure when Mimiko was PDP governor. That was why some people were not invited,” he said.
