Military, paramilitary forces to engage in sports fiesta in Osun

In order to unwind and deepen their relationship, officers of Military and Paramilitary forces in Osun State would engage in Sports Fiesta next week in Osogbo, the state capital.

The sporting activities are expected to commence next week, September 16 with indoor and other games and would climax on September 23 with football matches.

Tagged: “Military and Paramilitary Games 2024 (MiPaG 2024 Championship), the coordinator for the fiesta, Oluremi Bankefa said the annual game is to enable the security operatives and other officers to interact, relate better and keep fit.

Bankefa said, “The Military and Paramilitary Sports Fiesta is here again. This is the second edition. We decided to always hold this sporting activities every year for us to relate better aside from keeping fit, we get to deepen our working relationship through sports.

“We have already reached out to all interested athletes and some of the games that we will be featuring include: Ludo (Mala and Female), Draught (Male and Female), Scrabble (Male and Female), 100m (Male and Female), 200m (Male and Female), 4×4m (Male and Female), Javelin (Male and Female), Short put (Male and Female), Volleyball, Ayo Olopon (Male and Female) and Chess (Male and Female).

“The above highlighted games will start on 16th September, 2024 at the Osogbo City Stadium at 10am.”

Bankefa disclosed that the football match for the MiPaG 2024 Championship would commence on September 23 either at Ataoja or Osogbo Grammar School, adding that the Fiesta is organized by the Osun State Military and Paramilitary Sports Officers’ Association.

Among the participating agencies are Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Immigration, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Correctional Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Vehicle Inspection Office, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and State Fire Service.
