The campaign coordinator for the former President of the country, Alhaji Abibakar Habu Mu’azu has defected to the APC. He hinged his reason for defection on the need for progressive change in Gombe.
Alhaji Abibakar Habu Mu’azu was the campaign coordinator for former president, Goodluck Jonathan and a staunch member of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), he picked up his membership card at his Kashere Ward in Akko Local Government Area in Gombe state.
Other big names that also defected include, former Minister of Transport, Senator Abdullahi Idris, former Gombe State Deputy Governor Lazarus Yoriyo and former FCT Minister, Dr. Modibbo Umar, Senator Saidu Rufai Alkali (who represented Gombe North in the Seventh Assembly), Jamilu Isiaku Gomna, Haruna Luka and many others.
Muazu said, “this we have done because of our love for the state as there are so many things we have observed that needs to be changed.
“Since we have been privileged to change the top (president), we in Gombe, want to change the bottom of the ladders also.
“We want to ensure that come 2019, Gombe will be under APC because we have not joined the party to obtain ticket by force but to put heads together, correct the past mistakes and strategise for the future.”
Adamu Fata, the zonal vice chairman of the APC in Gombe received the new members to the party. He said Mu’azu’s entrance into APC had equalled him with others as he was now “part of the party’s ideology of collective struggle and success.”
