An Osogbo Chief Magistrate’s Court in Osun, on Thursday, sentenced one Adebayo Adejogunola to three months imprisonment for contempt of court.
The Magistrate, Olusegun Ayilara, found the convict guilty of abusing bail privilege by failing to appear in court when his came was mentioned for five different times.
The state’s prosecuting counsel, Adekunle Adeniyi, said the convict failed to appear in court to attend to his case involving a fraud of N9,657,925.
He was said to have defrauded one Akanbi Kayode of 36 tons (445kg) of maize sold at the rate of N265 which worth about N9,657,925.
Adeniyi said the convict jumped bail granted to him by the court five consecutive times on May 14, May 30, September 3, October 24 and October 29, 2024 by the court.
He said the offence committed contravened section 133(9) of the criminal code cap 34 Vol. 11, laws of Osun, 2002.
The convict has no legal representative when his case came up.
