Man jailed three months for vandalising transformer

A senior Magistrate’s court sitting in Kano has sentenced Hussian Yushau to three months in jail for vandalising an electricity transformer at Kawo Quarters, within the Kano metropolis.

The convict was arraigned on three counts bordering on theft, mischief and arson.

Report has it that the convict vandalised an electricity transformer supplying power to the residents of Kawo community. His action was said to have disrupted power supply to the area for long.

Yushau admitted to the allegation filed against him, pleading for leniency.

He informed the court that he was a first time offender and promised that if granted leniency, he would refrain from getting involved in criminal activities.

The court gave the convict an option of N60,000 fine.
