A 35-year-old man, Khalid Zakari, resident of Gama Quarters, Kano, has been reportedly electrocuted, The Point reports.

According to an eyewitness, Mazi Okechukwu, a resident of SabonGari, the deceased was contracted to fix a faulty electricity pole when the incident occurred.

“On Saturday morning, the man came to the community to repair the electrical fault caused by thunder storm in the area.

“He came with his ladder and climbed the pole. Later, we heard people cry for help. We rushed out and saw the man hanging on the pole,” Mazi said.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kano State Command, DSP Haruna Abdullahi Kiyawa, said that the incident happened last weekend.

Kiyawa said, “Our men rushed to the scene of the incident. The man was rescued and taken to Muritala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where the doctors confirmed him dead.”

The Command cautioned residents to desist from contracting electrical services to quacks.

The PPRO further warned that the Command would prosecute residents who were caught violating the law.
