A 44- year- old man, Christian Ughefuna, has been arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a container worth N2.9m in Lagos.
The Investigating Police Officer, Sgt. Paul Ayepeku, attached to the Kirikiri Police Divisional headquarters, Lagos, brought the accused person to court.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court in the first count charge that the accused and others still at large did conspire among themselves “to commit felony to wit ; demanding by menace and stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

In the second count charge, the police said the accused person and others now at large “did steal one PILL Container with serial No. PCIU899015-2 valued at Two million and nine hundred thousand naira (N2,900,000.00) property of one Linus Ike and thereby committed an offence under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
In the last count charge, the police said that the accused person and others still at large “did demand by menace from one Linus Ike ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168 (1) (h) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
Ughefuna pleaded not guilty to all the three-count charge.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. N.A. Layeni, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N50, 000.00 with two sureties in like sum. Layeni adjourned the case till November 20, 2018.
