The Ogun State Police Command on Sunday arrested one Biodun Adebiyi, 32, for allegedly beating a 30-year-old cigarette seller to death.
The alleged suspect was said to have committed the crime at Ajegunle, Idiroko, over a N50 balance.
The Command said the arrest was made after the matter was reported at the Idiroko divisional headquarters by the father of the diseased, Abubakar Adamu.
Narrating his ordeal to the police, Abubakar said the suspect visited his shop at Ajegunle around 2pm to buy cigarettes and his son, Mikaila Adamu attended to him.
Speaking further, Abubakar said the suspect later returned by 10pm to demand for his N50 change which led to an argument between him and his son.
The State Police Command spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, quoted Abubakar as saying, “In the course of the argument, the suspect descended heavily on Mukaila Adamu with fist blows, consequent upon which he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.
Consequently, the DPO of the Idiroko division, CSP Shadrach Oriloye, swiftly led his men to the scene to arrest the suspect.
