former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has deplored the looters’ list recently released by the Federal Government through the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

He said that the looters’ list was part of the government’s diversionary tactics aimed at deceiving Nigerians.

Onuesoke, who spoke to our correspondent in Warri, said that the APC-led Federal Government came up with the list because it had nothing to show for its three years in office.

It’s a deliberate attempt by the APC government to deceive Nigerians

The PDP chieftain said, “It is a deliberate attempt by the APC-led Federal Government to deceive Nigerians by intimidating and dehumanising members of the main opposition party in order to tarnish the image of PDP, before the 2019 elections.

“Since they have no tangible achievements to hinge their campaigns on in the coming elections, they have devised new ways of deceiving unsuspecting Nigerians through cheap blackmail and propaganda. Only in an APC government that you have such a lying information minister, whose name is now widely referred to as Mr. Lie Mohammed across the globe. Don’t be surprised if you find Sunny Onuesoke in the next batch of looters’ list.”

He added, “In a saner country, the likes of Lai Mohammed would have been wallowing somewhere in Kirikiri prison for deceiving and manipulating millions of Nigerians prior to the 2015 elections into believing the many lies and propaganda, which came out of their mouths. “Today, innocent Nigerians are bearing the brunt of those lies and propaganda in form of severe hardship, starvation, penury, loss of lives/loved ones and properties.”

Mohammed had recently released two sets of lists of some persons, who he said had allegedly looted the nation’s treasury. But the two lists contained mainly the names of some members of the main opposition party, the PDP, who are currently being tried for corruption and other financial crimes.

Onuesoke, however, challenged the minister and the APC-led government to release the names of APC members in the government who also had corruption cases to answer, if Nigerians were to take them seriously.

“It is curious to know that the so-called looters’ list contains only names of PDP members, who have not been declared guilty by any court of law. This, of course, is a great contravention of the rule of law. I challenge them to release the names of APC members in this government with serious corruption allegations, if Nigerians are to take them seriously with their so-called looters list,” he added.
