Ademola Lookman grabbed two goals as Atalanta beat table toppers Napoli 3-0 in Serie A matchday 11 fixture played at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday afternoon to go top of the chart for most goal involvements by a Serie A player across all competitions in 2024.
He netted his first in the 10th minute after Atalanta had successfully forced Napoli to defend in their own half, which resulted in a cross being delivered into the area, which was headed away by Mathias Olivera.
Marten de Roon headed it back into the Napoli penalty area, with Charles De Ketelaere flicking it to the far post for Lookman, who volleyed the ball home with precision.
On the half-hour mark, the 2024 Ballon d’Or nominee produced a moment of brilliance to give the away side a two-goal cushion as he combined with De Ketelaere once again before firing a cracking shot from outside the box past Alex Meret.
Just before his substitution in the 76th minute, the Super Eagles striker came close to getting his hat-trick, firing a shot wide of the post, and that signalled his last piece of the action in the game.
He was replaced by Lazar Samardzic as Gian Piero Gasperini sought to introduce fresh legs to see out the game.
With his brace against Partenopei, Lookman has scored 16 goals and registered 11 assists across all competitions this year, which is the most recorded by any Serie A player.
The 27-year-old has also reached double figures for goal involvement in Serie A this campaign, notching six goals and four assists.
