The Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University, Ojo, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, has said that the university will continue to build a synergy with the private sector and government at all levels for a knowledge-based and knowledge-driven development.

According to him, it is all about building the right collaborations to be able to train and supply better equipped and market-ready manpower for the development of the public and private sectors of the state and the nation at large.

“That is why this administration remains doggedly committed to this debt and is focused on making LASU compete favourably with the best universities in the world and empowering our human capital, which are staff and students,” Fagbohun said.

He said this during a press conference to announce some upcoming events in line with the university’s vision.

The VC added that to this end, the institution was set to host three events in pursuant of this promise and these include an afternoon with Baroness Lynda Chalker; the Second Annual Distinguished Lecture and the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Spirit of Africa Lecture and Awards.

Baroness Lynda Chalker, a former minister of state in the United Kingdom Foreign Office and a member of the United Kingdom Parliament for over 40 years, will speak on the topic: “Africa in a Competitive World, Development and Business” on Wednesday, August 15, 2018.

He, however, added that the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Spirit of Africa Awards would hold in the university in September this year.
