The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has sacked six officials over alleged severe misconduct and general inefficiencies.

The LASTMA Director of Public Affairs, Adebayo Taofiq, said the Lagos State Civil Service Commission endorsed the recommendations of the personnel management board to terminate the officials’ employment.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, said the disciplinary actions were rigorously implemented in line with the Lagos State civil service rules and regulations.

He said LASTMA will remain committed to enhancing its operations.

Bakare-Oki also called on Lagos residents to actively engage with the agency by providing feedback and reporting any observed misconduct with relevant evidence.

“I wish to inform the general public that this is an ongoing exercise aimed at purging the agency of errant officers. Another Personnel Management Board session will be convened shortly to address additional indicted LASTMA officials.

“Citizens are encouraged to lodge complaints through the toll-free hotline 08000527862 or by visiting the Walk-In Complaint Centre at LASTMA’s headquarters in Oshodi,” he said.

Last year, LASTMA sanctioned 11 officers for corrupt practices and absenteeism.

The agency said only one of the 12 officers arraigned before the disciplinary panel was exonerated.

Taofiq said the panel recommended punishment ranging from dismissal, reduction in rank, and immediate termination of appointments.

Same year, 14 of its personnel, including 11 senior officers and three juniors, faced a disciplinary panel over alleged extortion of motorists.
