Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has received former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso and former Cross River Governor, Donald Duke.
The political figures met on Saturday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
It is unclear what discussions they had, but it may not be unconnected with the 2027 general elections and the political permutations revolving around it.
They deliberated on “significant national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria.”
Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria People’s Party presidential candidate during the 2023 election, disclosed this in a post on his X account on Saturday night.
The NNPP chieftain stated that they were at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library residence in Ogun State during the weekend.
According to him, they deliberated on “significant national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria.”
“I was pleased to be in the company of my friend, HE Donald Duke, and other associates to pay a courtesy call on President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta.
“Deliberations on significant national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria defined the conversation. We are grateful to Baba for his warm support and hospitality.”
This is not the first time Kwankwaso would meet with the former President.
Last month, Obasanjo and other top political and business leaders in the country, were in Kano to attend the wedding of Kwankwaso’s daughter.
