Kogi gov congratulates Atoki as new ECOWAS chief judge

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has congratulated the newly appointed Chief Judge of the Economic Community of West African States’ Court in Togo, Mrs. Dupe Atoki.

Governor Bello said as the first indigene of Kogi State to be appointed the chief judge of the ECOWAS Court, Atoki, who hails from Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the state, had broken the glass ceiling for women professionals from the state to excel.

According to the statement, Atoki has also served in various capacities in the past as “Commissioner on Human Rights at African Union (AU), first Okun female lawyer with 40 years’ experience at the bar, first Nigerian female Ambassador to the African Union (AU), and first Okun woman to head a Federal Government Parastatal.”

While wishing her well in her new assignment, Governor Bello also expressed confidence that Atoki would make Kogi proud by bringing her wealth of experience to bear in improving the judicial system throughout ECOWAS.
