Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has ordered the immediate suspension of the Ohi of Eganyi and Chairman, Ajaokuta Traditional Area Council, HRH Alhaji Musa Isah Achuja, following investigation into the security breach that led to the death of eight security personnel on Saturday.

The traditional ruler is currently under detention by security agents.

The security personnel were reportedly ambushed by bandits in Ajaokuta Local Government area of Kogi State.

The governor, in a letter to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the state,
also directed that the Chairman of Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Mallam Mustapha Aka’aba be queried over the breach. He was also told to respond to the query within 24 hours.

A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mohammed Onogwu, said he warned other traditional rulers across the state who might have connection in one way or the other with criminal elements in their domains to desist forthwith.

He said his administration would deal ruthlessly with anybody found romancing criminal elements no matter how highly placed.

In the same vein, Governor Bello also warned Local Government Council Chairmen against all unofficial movement out of their Council areas, adding that all journeys must follow due process.

The governor stressed that no amount of connivance with criminals would deter him from his fundamental responsibility of protecting lives and property of the citizens and residents of the state.
