THE Ebonyi State Police Command, on Sunday, arrested the Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Clement Odah; and a lawmaker representing Ohaukwu North Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Chinedu Awo, over the recent killings and destruction of properties in the community.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Aliyu Garba, reportedly acting on the order of the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Kelechi Igwe, was said to have also effected the arrest of 30 other major stakeholders from the community.
The Coordinator of Effium Development Centre, Sunday Agbo; and his Effium South DC Counterpart, Eucharia Ogwale, were among those that were arrested.
The list of arrested persons includes a former Chief Press Secretary to the Governor and Special Assistant on Market Development, Emmanuel Uzor, and aide in charge of Parks Development, Emmanuel Igwe.
A former lawmaker representing Ohaukwu North state Constituency and Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Frank Onwe, was also arrested.
The arrests have sparked off a heated controversy in the community and sent panic signal to residents.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Loveth Odah, could not be reached as of the time of filing this report.
