Killers of my aide must be found – Senator Adeola

The lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Solomon Adeola, has reacted to the death of his aide, Olaniyi Sanni, who was murdered by unknown assailants on Saturday.

The spokesperson for the senator, Kayode Odunaro, in a statement, said the late Sanni had called his wife to request a document while at a checkpoint in the Berger area of Lagos State.

Odunaro said Sanni who became incommunicado afterwards was later found lifeless with gunshot wounds at Toyota bus stop in the Oshodi area of the state.

Reacting in a social media post on Monday, Adeola mourned the deceased whom he described as a dedicated aide.

The lawmaker who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations also thanked Nigerians for condoling with him, while he demanded that the killers must be found.

He wrote: “Sad and grieving the death of a dedicated aide, I arrived at the Senate for the national assignment of screening and confirmation of ministerial nominees.

“I appreciate the outpouring of condolences at this time from well-meaning Nigerians from all walks of life. It is well with all of us but the killers of my aide must be found.

The Lagos State Police Command said on Sunday that it was investigating the death of Sanni.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday.

“Police confirmed the killing of Mr. Adeniyi Sanni. The wife told the police that her husband called saying he was stopped by ‘some soldiers’ demanding to see his papers.

“He was later found dead with about five bullet holes in his back and three shells of expended ammunition by his body. An investigation has commenced,” Hundeyin said.
