Following renewed activities of kidnappers on the Abuja-Kaduna highway, the police have announced the deployment of 600 personnel to patrol the route.

This is aimed at fishing out suspected kidnappers, who had made the highway a no go area for travellers. The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, Habila Joshak, who inaugurated the team at Rijana, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, said it was in continuation of the “Operation Maximum Safety” launched last year.

He said that the operation comprised 500 regular police officers and men as well as 100 intelligence officers that would take charge of the highway. Also, Joshak said 60 vehicles would be patrolling the AbujaKaduna highway while the remaining 30 would patrol the Kaduna-Zaria/ Kano highway
