A Shariah court sitting in Kano State has struck out a defamation suit filed by Mohammed Ahmed of the FCT Central Mosque, Abuja against a Kano-based cleric, Sheikh Abdullahi Gadan Kaya.

The plaintiff had alleged that the Kano-based cleric defamed his personality in a viral video.

However, Kaya denied the allegations levelled against him at the court.

The two men were lurked in a legal tussle that rattled the hierarchy of the Ulamma fraternity in Kano.

Counsel to the plaintiff, Mohammed Sheriff, urged the judge to terminate the suit following the amicable resolution of the dispute between the affected parties through the Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism.

Sheriff stated that the resolution of the dispute followed the laid down Islamic jurisprudence.

The court yielded to the counsel’s prayers and struck out the matter.

Kaya, speaking through his counsel, Mahmud Sheriff, was quoted as saying that the decision was a welcome development.

According to Kaya, alternative dispute resolution is recommended in all facets since it fosters peace.
