Residents of Kauru Local Government Area in Kaduna State have taken to the streets to protest the persistent attacks by terrorists, bandits and kidnappers.

For years, these communities have lived in fear, with homes being raided, lives lost, and properties destroyed.

The most affected areas include Dokan Karji, Bandi, Kan-Makama, Wugama, Kurfi, Unguwan Mai Doki, Dokan Sonoma, Bibi, Kaware, Unguwan Sako, Hayin Mai Jama’a, Sabon Layin Kan-Makama, and other villages in Dawaki District.

These frequent attacks have left the residents unable to sleep at night, constantly fearing for their safety.

Bakatsine, a conflict and crisis journalist in Northwest Nigeria, posted videos of the protest on X, on Thursday, stating that during the peaceful protest, the residents urged Governor Uba Sani to intervene and ensure their safety.

One protester stated, “We can’t continue like this. Every day, we live in fear. We are calling on the government to save us.”

The protesters emphasised that all they want is peace, stressing that they deserve to live without fear and that government should protect their families and property.
