At least, 11 soldiers were feared killed in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State during an encounter with some suspected bandits who invaded a military base at the Pole Wire village on Monday.
A source alleged that the bandits, who stormed the area with motorbikes, attacked the base and opened fire on the soldiers.
The source said that “Some of the bandits were carrying Rocket-Propelled Grenade. They engaged the soldiers for about 2 hours.
“They killed 11 men and 19 soldiers were wounded in action. They burnt down three Armoured Personnel Carriers.
“They went away with several weapons belonging to the soldiers.”
The authorities had yet to react to the incident.
