THE Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, who was kidnapped on Saturday evening, has been set free.
He was reportedly released unhurt on Monday evening.
Though family sources did not specify how much was paid as ransom to secure his release, it was gathered that the ransom might have been on the high side
Okungbowa had been abducted by gunmen, who whisked him away to an unknown destination, after reportedly shooting dead his driver.
His police escort, who could not initially be tracked, was later found to have been killed in the incident after sustaining gunshot injuries.
Though family sources said they were grateful to God for releasing their son safely, they expressed regret over the death of Okungbowa’s escort and driver.
The HoS has however reunited with his family after receiving medical attention, police sources said.
