Arsenal fans have yet to get over the latest defeat their club suffered against Liverpool, as they attributed the fall to the diminishing form of the club’s Nigerian striker, Alex Iwobi.

Arsenal suffered a major blow in the race for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, as they lost 3-1 away to Liverpool last Saturday.

The decision from Arsene Wenger to start Chile international, Alexis Sanchez, on the bench backfired in spectacular fashion, with the Arsenal boss forced to call on the striker at half-time, at which point the Gunners were already two goals down.

Iwobi did start for Arsenal, but the youngster was unable to impact the match as he would have hoped. The 20-year-old has scored four goals and provided seven assists in 34 matches for Arsenal this season, however it was not his day this time round.

After the match against Liverpool, the fans went on Twitter to condemn Iwobi’s performance.

According to @SquawkaNews, “Iwobi isn’t quality. He’s played all season, but he’s average and we could have bought so many left wingers in the summer.”

Another fan, Andrew (@PR_WhoRu, said, “Never expected much, but am still disappointed anyways. A team that has A. IWOBI as a starter should not be taken seriously. #AFC
