As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, itel Mobile has advocated quality education in Nigeria, even as it donated books and other education tools to some secondary schools in Kano State.

The Manager, Marketing Communications of the company, Mr. Okey Umurhohwo, explained that the donations were made on the need to promote rural education, enhance development and brighten the future of Nigerians.

He said, “We are determined to promote education and make it affordable and accessible for youths. Lack of access to basic educational tools in the rural areas are one of the key factors hindering educational growth in the rural areas.

“Itel Mobile is interested in the promotion of education in Nigeria. No matter your state or region, no matter how far or nearer is located, we would continue to strive harder in making sure we contribute our own quota to what would make students excel in their pursuits for better and conducive education, in a friendly and supportive environment.”

The Marketing Manager of the company, Mr. Martin Umebiye, said, “Though this is the Itel Mobile’s first CSR in the Northern part of the country, we hope to do more as the months roll by. We need to give back to the society and this is one of the best ways to
do so.”

Elated Vice Principal, Yakub Memorial Secondary School, Brigade Quarters, Kano, Mr. Ali Abdulkadir Mohammed, described the gesture of the company as commendable and inspiring.

“We don’t know anybody at Itel Mobile and neither did we lobby for it. The organisation’s motive is highly commendable and worthy of emulation. We hope others would emulate it and invest more in CSR. The educational materials doled out to our pupils would ease their jobs and facilitate improved standard among students,” he said.
