THE Federal Government has said only approved airlines will be allowed to operate in the country when international flights resume on September 5.
The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, who disclosed this on Thursday, added that only the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, would reopen for international flights.
Sirika spoke during the briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19. at the NAIA, Abuja.
He, however, said Air France, Lufthansa, KLM, Etihad Airways, Angolan TAG, Air Namibia and Royal Air Maroc, were not allowed to operate flights into Nigeria.
Approved airlines, according to him, are British Airways, Emirates, Ethiopian Airline, Middle East Airline, AWA. These airlines are approved to operate flights into Abuja, while Egypt Air, Virgin Atlantic, Turkish Airlines, AWA, Kenya Airways and Middle East Airlines, are approved to operate flights into Lagos.
The Federal Government shut the airspace in March, to contain the spread of COVID-19.
