FOLLOWING criticisms by his opponents and insinuations in some quarters that he might not make it back to the Oyo State Government House in 2023, Governor Seyi Makinde has said that he is not afraid of leaving office.

Makinde, who had contested three times without luck until 2019, said God made him Governor and not man.

The Governor, who spoke at the Pan-Yoruba Congress in Mapo, Ibadan, said if the people of Oyo State say they don’t want him again, he would gladly leave.

“If the people of the state decide that they don’t want me again, I will only take my bag and leave because I don’t have a pin in the office,” he declared.

He also noted that he had no godfather, saying he would never fear any man, no matter how powerful.

“If the people of Oyo State ask me to leave the office as Governor today, I won’t hesitate to leave the office, because I go to the office daily with my bag,” Makinde reiterated.

“Let me tell you here today. I don’t have a political father. It was God who made me governor and not human being. I fear only God and not any human. No matter how powerful a man is, I cannot fear him,” he added.

Makinde recalled that he contested the 2007, 2011 and 2015 elections, but failed, adding that when it was time for God to make him governor, He did.
