FORMER Governorship Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic party in Edo State, Kenneth Imasuangbon, has painted a grim picture of how he was victimised by political godfathers in the state for 16 years.

Speaking on the sidelines of the PDP Governorship Ward rally in Etsako West Local Government of the state, Imasuangbon called on lovers of democracy to defend their votes from the grip of election riggers as eligible voters in the state get ready to perform their civic duties on September 19, 2020.

He said, “Obaseki will defeat Adams Oshiomhole and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in this election. For 16 years, I, Mr. Kenneth Imasuangbon, have been contesting elections in Edo State. I have been a victim of the godfathers. This is why I am supporting Governor Godwin Obaseki for having the courage to defeat the godfather in Edo politics.

“Every Edo man and woman should take up this challenge which comes through courage and determination by saying No to the godfathers. I will lead in defending election results from my polling unit to Ward and from my Ward to the various collation Centers.”

Imasuagbon added, “They want to write election results. We are waiting for them. This election is an election of freedom. We are redefining democracy in Edo State.

“I call on every Edo people wherever you are to defend your votes. The greatest military all over the world is the people’s military.”

He also said Obaseki’s strides in Education, agricultural revolution and construction of 350 roads across the three Senatorial districts of the State were pointers for the massive support for his re-election.

He predicted that the Candidate of the PDP in the Gubernatorial election would defeat his main rival, Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress.

The PDP chieftain, however, called for vigilance before, during and after the election in order to preserve the sanctity of the ballot; Just as he put the security agents and the Independent National Electoral Commission that would midwife the electoral process to be fair and neutral, both in practice and in principle, while discharging their assignments.

He said, “Democracy is already on trial in Edo State…What did Ize-Iyamu do when he came before?

“God will punish who attacked my convoy even to their third generations. Why are they after my life? Is it because I care for the widows, Orphans and the fatherless in the society or for owning a School?”
