Nollywood actress, Mary Uranta, is one personality that has style. On red carpets, she knows what fits her best.
But according to the Chief Executive Officer of 50th Film Academy, making everything simple brings out the best in her and she has come to that understanding.
She explains, “This is just who I am (pointing to her gown). For the few people who know me, I think I always appear simple or whatever you call it.”
Also, Uranta has a special liking and love for the colour white, but she maintains that has nothing to do with her faith and membership of the white garmentwearing Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
“I love white colour because I know it means purity. I also love diamond and sliver accessories, but I don’t love gold,” she says.
Right from her childhood, the ex-beauty queen had always dreamt of being an actress and as a teenager, she shuttled between Lagos and Port Harcourt, just to attend auditions.
“I have always loved acting. I used to come to Lagos then from Port Harcourt just for auditions. My friends and I, actually. We used to go to Asaba, Enugu, Owerri and even within Port Harcourt just to get auditioned.
But after a while, I said if Lagos was the happening place, I should move there instead of coming and going. And that was it,” Uranta says.
Speaking about her film company, she says she got the name “50th” while she was sleeping. She heard the word and then woke up! After giving it a thought, she felt God was trying to tell her something.

“I registered the company, I travelled and got equipment to start a studio. We know nothing works perfectly in Nigeria but it has been an amazing experience for us.
We are good with what we do. I will not say we are the best or have everything we need, but we have what it takes to make a good movie right now and it is working for us,” Uranta says.
