Makeup artist, Ifedayo Adewale, popularly known as Ife Oge, believes that makeup should offer a lifeline to every woman, when it comes to fashion.

Though good apparels and jewellery have their place, a little slip in makeup can become a fly in the ointment, when it comes to fashion and dress sense, Ife Oge tells The Point.

Defining fashion from her own perspective, the daughter of a former lawmaker explains that it is a way of life. She adds that fashion is not constant as it comes and goes, stating that it is only called fashion at the moment it’s trending.

“Fashion is a style of appearance, or a way of life that people believe in at a particular time in life. When time goes against the style or manner of appearance, then it becomes odd and obsolete,” she says.

Asked about her best apparel, Ife Oge says she loves to look good in anything, especially apt gown, which she believes enhances her beauty. Having achieved so much in her career as a lover of fashion, Ife Oge has met a lot of personalities in this line, among whom are Nollywood actors and actresses.

Recounting an ugly experience in her chosen line of business, Ife Oge says that her first job as a makeover artist got her the most embarrassing remark she had ever got in her life.

This nasty experience, she, however, says has helped in bringing her this far as a make-up artist. “My first challenge was funny, I was in a place to do makeover for a client and she looked down on me and said she can’t allow me to touch her face. It was really a challenge that day, and I was so bitter going home without the job done. Since then, I have learnt to always look good to make people look good,” she says.

Emphasising how youths of today misunderstand fashion, she expresses dissatisfaction with their indecent mode of dressing, all in the name of fashion and being in vogue. She says striving to be fashionable should not result in not knowing what is wrong from right.

“Many teenagers are trapped by fashion; it attracts them with a force. They cannot control it. So many youth now dress the way they like, wearing saggy pants, which is not apt,” she says. The young damsel also discloses that for certain reasons, she would rather be involved in running a store dealing in fashion kits, if she’s not pursuing a career in fashion.
