The suspects, Aboy Feku, Mimo Blessing and Samuel Yola, had been on police wanted list over a recent kidnap case at Omu Ijebu, Ejirin road, Ogun State, before their arrest by the police.

They were declared wanted for the abduction of a lawyer and a female police sergeant, simply identified as Bola. Police sources told The Point that the suspects were arrested by a team of stop and search police team around 6am in the Ketu-Ejirin area of Lagos.

The suspects were said to have been arrested when the motor bike they were riding on was stopped by policemen, who found in their possession a cache of arms, including a pump action rifle, a pistol, a double barrel gun and two locally made guns.

It was also gathered the suspects maintained a camp at the Molajoye area of Epe, where they kept many of their victims yet to pay ransom.

The suspects confessed to committing the crime in a chat with The Point.

They also explained how the sum of N5 million was collected as ransom for a lawyer they kidnapped at Ketu-Epe .

Fekun, said that the kidnapped female sergeant was waylaid by his gang at OmuIjebu, Ejirin road, while she was on her way to the Ketu Police Division, where she works.

“She was inside a bus that we stopped at Omu-Ijebu with other people, when we ambushed them.

We kidnapped her and other five people, who were taken to our camp at Molajoye for ransom.

“We were paid N200, 000 by the family of the female police sergeant. I was not among those that went for the operation, I am just their cook at the camp. All through the time the victims were with us, I cooked rice and beans for them.

“I came to the camp the day the lawyer was kidnapped. I was not always going with them on operations, where they kidnap people,” he said.

Recounting how members of the kidnap gang were arrested, the suspect said, “A day after receiving the N5m ransom paid by the family of the kidnaped lawyer, me, A boy and our bike man, Samuel, were accosted by police on the road.

During the search by the police, weapons and a lot of cash were recovered from us while our gang leader, Tallest and others, escaped.”
