Housewives face trial for engaging in free-for-all

There was a mild drama at Olutimehin Estate, Fadidulahi area of Osogbo, Osun State as two housewives engaged in free-for-all recently over an undisclosed matter.

There was commotion in the area as the middle aged women, Nife Ajayi, and Mariam Adekunle, threw punches at each other.

Adekunle was said to have reported at the Oke-Baale Police Division, Osogbo that Nife came to her house and assaulted her.

Ajayi was charged to court over alleged assault and disturbance of public peace.

The charge brought against her read that “You, Nife Ajayi, aged 35, on October 3, 2022, at about 10pm at Olutimehin Estate, Fadidulahi area, Osogbo, did beat one Adekunle Mariam with fist blow over a minor issue between the two of you.

“You, at the same time and place, did inflict injury on one Adekunle Mariam over a minor matter between the two of you.

“You did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace when you chased Adekunle Mariam in a public place with intent of doing her havoc.”

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Rasaq Olayiwola, the accused person committed offences contrary to and punishable under sections 351, 355 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the three-count-charge.

The defence counsel, Tunbosun Oladipupo, applied for bail for her and urged the court not to make the bail conditions stringent.

Magistrate A. O. Daramola granted bail to Ajayi in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in the same amount.

The case was adjourned till October 19 for hearing.
