SUSPECTED thugs, on Tuesday, set the Apapa Iganmu Police Station ablaze in Lagos State.

The hoodlums had reportedly attacked the police station in the early hours of Tuesday, leading to a reaction by the policemen, who were said to have shot at the thugs, The Point learnt.

The incident, which happened at about 10am, caused fear among residents of the area who said the #EndSARS protests had been completely hijacked.

Spokesperson for the Apapa-Iganmu Local Government Area, Ayo Micheal, who confirmed the incident, said two persons were shot dead in the mayhem.

“The burnt police station is in Apapa Iganmu but serviced both the Iganmu community in Apapa Iganmu and the Orile Community in Coker/Aguda,” he explained.

He said some boys had assembled at the Orile Junction and were marching towards Apapa.

“They were on their way to Apapa, I learnt they passed through the police station and protested there. As they were protesting, police officers attempted to disperse them and they resisted them. Before you knew anything, two boys were shot in the shoulder and chest,” he added.

The #EndSARS protests have allegedly been hijacked by hoodlums in the hot spots across the country, with more than 10 people officially declared dead by police authorities across Osun, Edo, and Lagos states, among others.
