A Human Rights and political activist, John Osaretin, has called on the leadership of the All Progressive Congress to hold the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, responsible should the party lose the forthcoming governosrhip election in Edo State.
Osaretin said the disqualification of the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, from the governorship race was the handiwork of Oshiomhole, adding that this might spell doom for the party.
He said he had expected President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to call Oshiomhole to order and restrain him from forcing Obaseki out of the race.
Osaretin said if anybody deserved to be forced out of the APC, it was Oshiomhole, who had turned the ruling party into a personal property and had been using his position to settle personal scores.
He said it was very sad that the party, through Oshiomhole, had now found deficiencies in Obaseki’s qualifications after he had been Edo State Governor for almost four years.
He stated, “Oshiomhole brought in Obaseki four years ago and was seen on podium campaigning for him and describing him in glowing terms throughout the nooks and crannies of the state. He practically sold him to the electorate, and now, because of personal scores, Oshiomhole, who praised Obaseki and described him as God-sent, has now found Obaseki as one whose qualifications are not too good enough to represent his party.
“The Edo people can now see that Oshiomhole doesn’t have the interest of the people at heart and he is only a selfish, greedy individual.”
Osaretin said the people of Edo State should not follow Oshiomhole blindly and should open their eyes in the September election and vote for a candidate worthy of their votes.
He said, “When the campaign starts, the questions the people of Edo should ask Oshiomhole is why he presented Obaseki to them four years ago when he knew his qualifications were questionable and why they should believe him this time around with another candidate he is presenting to them.
“We should not be fooled a second time. We should be wary of Oshiomhole’s antics and should not vote for anybody he presents to us this time. He cannot be using the entire people of the state to achieve his political goals.”
