High tension cable kills truck conductor in Ilorin

An unidentified staff of a borehole drilling company (name withheld) has been reportedly electrocuted while trying to use a stick to raise a high tension cable obstructing the movement of the company’s vehicle.
The sad incident, which occurred around Fate area of Ilorin, Kwara State, threw residents and passers-by into serious anxiety and mourning.
According to an eye witness, the victim met his untimely death when he attempted to lift the high tension cable standing beside the tyre of an articulated vehicle in which they were moving.
The Point gathered that while trying to make a way out for the stuck vehicle, the victim, who was unaware that the cable had descended and touched the metal part of the vehicle, got electrocuted in the process.
The reaction of the driver of the vehicle, simply identified as Taiye, attracted other motorists and residents to the scene but it was too late as the victim had already been burnt severely and had given up the ghost.
A team of policemen was said to have evacuated the lifeless body of the victim and deposited his remains at a mortuary.
A residentof the area, Samuel Adejoh, who gave further insight into the tragic incident, said, “Before the incident, residents of the areas had informed the IBDC to repair the fault, but they would not come until after the high tension cable claimed life.”
