The police in Osun State have arrested a 34-year-old herbalist, Saheed Adekunle, for allegedly killing his client, Sunday Oderinde, for demanding a refund of the sum of N400,000 he paid him to facilitate a moneymaking ritual.

The deceased, aged 40, was said to have approached Adekunle at his residence, 24, Alaperin Street, Sabo, Osogbo for rituals that would enable him to become wealthy and the herbalist had billed him the sum of N400,000, for the services, which he paid.

Our correspondent gathered that Oderinde, who had paid the herbalist the money since January this year, had waited till March without experiencing any sign of prosperity.

He was said to have then asked the herbalist to refund the money he paid him for the services since it appeared his charm was not potent to make him rich.

Apparently disturbed by Oderinde’s insistence to get his money back, police sources told our correspondent that Adekunle invited the deceased to his house and smashed his head with a big stone repeatedly until he died.

The state Police Commissioner, Fimihan Adeoye, said that the herbalist was fake and that he killed Oderinde in order to stop him from further pestering him for a refund of his money.

Adeoye revealed that the suspect, after allegedly killing Oderinde, kept his remains in a bag and dumped it beside the road.

According to the police commissioner, “On the 8th of March, 2017 at 10:00am, Sunday Oderinde, aged 40, now deceased of Ayes compound, Oluode area, Osogbo, was invited by Saheed Adekunle, aged 34, to his residence at 24, Alaperin street, Sabi area in Osogbo.

On arrival, Saheed smashed a big stone on the deceased’s head repeatedly before he finally died.

“Adekunle, who claimed to be a herbalist, carried out this murderous act so as to prevent the deceased from asking for the sum of N400,000, which he collected deceitfully to do money ritual in favour of the deceased.

After killing him, the suspect kept his corpse inside a big “ Ghana-mustgo” bag and later went and dump the deceased along Ibokun road with a borrowed motorcycle from his friend.
