Heartland Football Club of Owerri has made steady progress towards obtaining the support of a foreign partner this season.
According to Cajetan Nwaopara, Heartland spokesman, the club chairman, Goodfaith Etuemene, is in Europe to meet European Club investors in furtherance of the club’s drive for self-reliance and financial stability.
Heartland Chairman was said to have intensified moves after meeting with some club owners and managers like Sylwiusz Mucha –Orlinski, the President of MKS Znicz Pruszkow FC of Poland.
“Etuemene is on a journey that is taking him from the city of Manchester in the United Kingdom to Germany, Poland, Czech Republic and Turkey, where he has been meeting some of Europe’s club owners and potential investors in the hope of nicking a relationship that can change the financial fortunes of the Naze Millionaires,” Nwaopara said.
“On arrival in Warsaw, Poland, Etuemene held fruitful discussions with MKS Znicz Pruszkow officials, which when actualised, could open a gateway of European club transfers for future Heartland players. To us, this is a positive development,” he added.
Heartland, one of Nigeria’s big club, is battling at the lower rung of the premier league table this season but the recent move by the new chairman will no doubt inspire hope and confidence in the team to fight for escape from relegation.
